Token 2049 Recap
These events allow the EOS community to share its story with business and tech leaders worldwide, and Zaisan plans to leverage those contacts to cultivate cooperative positive-sum relationships. These connections can help communicate the benefits of EOS with the broader technology landscape.
Trust EVM Launch Announcement
Engineers continue testing and optimizing TrustEVM ahead of its anticipated Q1 2023 release, with an eye on further improving what is already the world’s fastest EVM. Testers have achieved swap rates as high as 800+ per second, and developers are still optimizing the code to make it even more performant.
Pomelo Season 4 Kick Off
Pomelo season four kicked off with the announcement of a $350k grant from the ENF, bringing the total matching pool to $385,699.
Pomelo is an open-source crowdfunding platform inspired by Gitcoin to fund EOS-based projects using a quadratic mechanism to multiply community contributions. It gives greater weight to the number of unique contributors when determining the amount funded. With the magic of quadratic funding, more funds go to grants with more unique donors.
To coincide with the matching pool announcement, Pomelo distributed NFT badges to award the top Season 3 grant owners and donors. Even those who didn’t achieve top ranking can get their badge by blending a Season 3 Moon on the .gems blend website.
Part of the matching pool comes from sales of Pomelo NFTs. The season four NFT story begins when Moon Rocks go on sale for 2.2 EOS on October 11. One week later, on October 18, Grant Collectible Packs go on sale for 9 EOS per pack, which Pomelo supporters can use with moon rocks to blend upcoming moon goodies and play their part in the Pomelo NFT story.
Accountable Funding with EOS Support & EOS Respect
EOS Support will hold an EOS Respect election on October 18 at 11:00 UTC. EOS Respect is based on Eden and uses the same consensus tournament method to provide accountable funding and govern the organization. EOS Respect keeps track of the performance of their delegates in a monthly report, and all delegates who have used their funds have successfully achieved their goals.
EOS Support serves as a concierge that provides service and technical support for users and customers of the EOS Network. Community members independently created the organization with a focus on issues related to onboarding new community members. They feature a support ticket system and 24/7 live chat across multiple languages. In EOS Respect meetings, each EOS Support Squad presents their work or an EOS Support-affiliated project they want to fund over a month. Delegates keep track of all projects or work on which they spent EOS Respect funds. Then, EOS Support agents and squads vote on the best projects or work, after which the elected delegates receive EOS and use it as promised. For example, current head chief delegate Jesse Jaffe founded the EOS Bees marketing team and uses EOS Respect alongside Eden and Pomelo to help bootstrap swarms and other EOS Bees initiatives.
If you want to join the EOS Respect community, you can read a summary of the mission and send the team an application email.
Bywire DAO Launch
Bywire, one of the premier resources for blockchain news, has launched the new Bywire DAO that intends to be the decentralized home for independent news. Bywire aggregates independent publishers and assigns them scores with a transparent AI-based trust system. Each week, Bywire highlights EOS Briefings, Everything EOS, EOS Bees, NovaCrypto, Byline Times, Eden on EOS, The Klaxon and many other independent news publishers and Medium bloggers. By downloading the Bywire iOS and Android app or using the Bywire website, users can access the best crypto and general news, all in one place, secured and verified by the EOS public blockchain.
While Bywire’s news application has served the EOS community for years with help from Pomelo and the ENF, DAO is in its infancy and is still a work in progress. That said, Bywire ultimately plans to combat fake news and institutional media capture with AI tools and independent journalism and will run BywireDAO as a decentralized organization guided by the community.

EVM Ideathon Update
The EVMxIdeathon is in full swing, with over 300 participants registered. Helios, the hackathon’s organizer, has hosted workshops to help founders craft the perfect pitch and understand the Antelope ecosystem.
The EVMxIdeathon is an eight-week event that covers two main tracks: an ideathon, in which participants put together the business logic and use cases for a powerful EOS-based product, and a separate EVM hackathon focused on “GameFi” or “play-to-earn” models.
The current track is the ideathon, with a chance to win $5,000 for the most viable ideas according to a four-item rubric:
- Impact – Is this the missing killer blockchain application? Can it lead to mass adoption? How innovative is this project? Does it expand beyond the current norms for its hackathon category?
- Viability – How feasible is it to produce and actualize this project? Can it realistically be deployed onto an Antelope blockchain? Is the project achievable with a reasonable budget and timeline?
- Creativity – How unique is the idea? Is this something we’ve seen before or a cutting-edge idea pushing the limits of what is possible on a public blockchain?
- Presentation – How well was the project presented? Does the team inspire confidence that they can deliver if empowered to execute?
Meanwhile, TrustEVM announced the winners of the TrustEVM GameFi Hackathon hosted by DoraHacks. Two first-prize projects, Norse Metaverse MMORPG The Wake and gaming ecosystem Fabwelt, won $5,000 each. Fitness game Moverse, football E-sport game FootEarn, and Metaverse first-person shooter Galactic War each won the second-place $3,000 prize. Seven other games, ecosystem tools, and marketplaces took the third prize of $1,000, while two additional projects won $500 engagement awards.
Coffee w Greymass
Greymass has released another episode of their podcast Coffee with Greymass, where Aaron and Miles share their insights on the EOS ecosystem from the perspective of an EOS block producer. In this episode, “Behind the Grey Curtain: the History of Greymass,” they discuss the history of EOS, Greymass, and future initiatives.
The Greymass team has worked on client-side development for blockchains since 2016. Greymass was formed in 2018 to push these technologies further and create the tools required for an excellent everyday user experience. The team has created multiple core-level software development kits (SDKs) for EOSIO, created one of the most popular client applications (Anchor), and prototyped solutions for many users’ daily hurdles. The SDKs that Greymass will produce are the culmination of years of experience and aim to achieve the power of blockchain with the smooth experience users expect from a modern software stack.
Chintai Partnership with NUS Business School
Singapore-based blockchain company Chintai helps to shape the next generation of blockchain leaders in their new partnership with the top blockchain school in the world, NUS Business school in Singapore.
Chintai is a blockchain platform and digital assets company that tokenizes physical and digital assets. Chintai revolutionizes capital markets for asset managers, banks and enterprises. They use high-performance blockchain technology and a multi-chain architecture to keep the entire life cycle of digital assets on-chain and significantly reduce administrative overhead.
Education is the lynchpin of any industry, and most universities do not offer a comprehensive blockchain education. Those that do are focused largely on blockchain development, and students from other fields like business rarely have the chance to learn about distributed ledgers and their advantages. Chintai’s partnership with the world-class National University of Singapore Business School will help fill this gap and prepare business students to create the next generation of blockchain solutions.
